Preliminary
Homeless Count
(7/19/06) |
| Very early numbers are being cultivated
from the ShelterNet Homeless Management Information
System. According to a testing of the reporting
system, there have been 347 homeless individuals served by
the ACC, YMCA, and VOA since the ACC was the first agency
to go live in July 2005. Since January 1st, the
number of homeless individuals served amounts to 226.
More information will be forthcoming as the reporting
process is refined. |

| The Homeless Coalition is maintaining a
list of resources for victims of the recent flooding and
is being hosted on the main page of
www.shelter-net.org. |

Fifth
Graders Make Donation to Homeless Coalition

|
Members of Debra Pomeroy’s 5th Grade class at
Maine Memorial Elementary School, along with a group of
students called The Perfect Poets, wrote,
published, and sold copies of The Time to Make a
Change, a collection of “Poems by Kids Themselves.”
Half of the $230 raised has been donated to the Homeless
Coalition. The Homeless Coalition is very grateful for
the generosity and is encouraged by the thoughtfulness
shown by these students at such a young age. |

| ShelterNet Named Exemplary Practice
HMIS

| HUD monitored Fairview Recovery Services
April 6-7, 2006. As a result of the monitoring, the
ShelterNet Program was named an exemplary practice and
should be looked at as a stellar example of a successful
HMIS implementation. The official report can be
